The Growth of the Tea Party

This map visualizes Tea Party events organized on Meetup.com, beginning on January 1, 2009.

This map makes use of an Actionscript library written by Michael VanDaniker that produce heatmaps, which aggregate data into clusters to show where the densest activity is located. Combining Michael's library with the Google Maps API for Adobe Flex allowed this map to visualize thousands of data points without crashing the browser.
