How to Make a 51-Star Flag

Here's a Flash widget that can compute a symmetrical pattern for any number of stars on the flag up to 100, with a few tricky exceptions where no neat pattern is possible. In some cases, multiple patterns are possible. There are named after the first flag to use this pattern, like the 44-star flag when Wyoming joined the Union or 33-star flag when Oregon got its stripes.
