I'm a native of Charlottesville, Va. with a degree in English from the University of Virginia. More recently, I've learned to code in a variety of programming languages, and enjoy experimenting with how the two can be combined into interactive storytelling. Freelance rates
I accept a limited number of freelance assignments, either for articles or interactives, depending on workload and employer permission.
Rates for coding projects are negotiable, but fall in to these (generally undermarket) ballparks:
- $35/hour (Newspapers, magazines and non-profits)
- $50/hour (Non-publications—visualizations and other front-end projects)
- $65/hour (Non-publications—Python- or Ruby-intensive database and other back-end projects)
